31-10-2014 Well, as you all know tonight is all Hallows' Eve!! The residents have been getting stuck in and carving pumpkins for the home - I must say we seem to have a few experts in the building because they look fabulous outside all lit up! we've also had a Halloween quiz and tea dance to get everyone in the spooky spirit of things. Earlier on in the week we had a singer come in to brighten up the dull afternoon with his old style favourites that had everyone tapping their feet. We can't wait to see what November brings...
24-10-2014 Thursday this week a handful of our residents spent the morning at Ruxley Garden centre. They enjoyed walking around and seeing the beautiful plants and the new Christmas display (even if it is only October!!) Tea and Coffee was to follow of course. The rest of the week the residents spent relaxing around the home and in the cinema, enjoying the activities that go on throughout the home each week.
17-10-2014 This week we had one of our fantastic fortnightly evening events with the fantastic Darren James's Neil Diamond tribute act taking us back with all the classics of the legendary singer and songwriter. Everybody enjoyed listening and singing the night away whilst picking at the delicious canapés that were served throughout the night. Don't forget our Fine Dining room is finally complete and it's looking more glamorous than ever so please enquire if you have a special occasion or would simply just like a private meal with your loved ones.
10-10-2014 This week at Groveland, our residents had a wonderful re-visit from Nightingale Dogs. This intelligent group of entertaining canines perform a variety of tricks and talents, and not forgetting endless hugs and kisses, to enhance quality of life through visual, physical, tactile, emotional and social stimulation. As before, Nightingale Dogs were a hit and they even had learned a few new tricks! We cant wait to have them back.
03-10-2014 Groveland park has been full of fun activities this week. To begin with we had our normal weekly motivation class run by Claire. The class stimulates both the mind and body using a series of exercises and games with enables individuals to regain levels of movement and dexterity that they may have previously lost or struggle with. On Wednesday we had a very entertaining night with Roy Golding as a one man band! there was a finger buffet and plenty of company to make the night one to remember. By the end of the week we decided that perhaps a relaxed afternoon in the lounge would be a good way to wind down, but there is never a dull moment at Groveland Park and our weekend activities co-ordinator, Angela and her father made sure that everyone was singing along and tapping their feet to the lovely performance they put on for us all. It really has ben a fun week and were looking forward to the activities we have on the books for the up coming festive months.
